Friday Fictioneers: The Girl There

ice-on-the-window

You see the girl there, through the window, though the frost obscures your view. Night after night she stares; she waits.

You watch the girl there, through the window. No smile, no light in her eyes. The spark within her snuffed out early. Perhaps a smolder remains.

You see the girl there, through the window, and wonder what lies ahead. She hopes, day after day, for the love that gathers you close, holds you tight and shields you from the world.

You watch the girl there, through the window, and shiver. You and her, one and the same.

    • Thanks, Rochelle! I loved the pic and am so glad you re-posted that prompt. It took me back to younger days and watching Anne of Green Gables. I’m glad it resonated so strongly with you! Happy trails and hope the book is coming along!
