One night a few weeks ago, Big Dude made his way into my room a little after 2 a.m.
There had been an incident.
Hubby was away on a business trip, so I shook off the confusion from my middle-of-the-night sleep disruption and hustled Big Dude to the bathroom. One bath and a striped bed later, we made our way to my room go back to sleep in my bed.
At 5:30 a.m., he woke again.
“I have to go potty!”
“What? Huh? Do you need help?”
“No.”
“Okay, go to the bathroom, then, buddy.”
Off he went, down the hall. I rolled over and tried to cling to the evaporating mist of sleep.
When he came back and climbed in the bed, Big Dude crawled over and tucked in the blanket around me. Then I heard his little voice, whispering the words to “Love You Forever.”
After he finished the “my mommy, you’ll be” line, he kissed me, lay back down and went back to sleep.
Oh, heart melt!
