In the Mom Lane: If We Were Having Coffee…

This is my first week joining the weekly #weekendcoffeeshare hosted by Part Time Monster! I discovered this weekly blog-post-sip-drink-and-catch-up this past week on the blog of AmieWrites74. As a coffee lover, I couldn’t pass it up a chance to sit with a brew (decaf though it may be at this late hour) and catch up!

Without further adieu, here it goes!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you this week has been a whirlwind! There was a day at the clinic, both boys had well-checks plus hubby had a filling & a crown (all in the same day), the bathroom remodel construction work continues, a CPR course taught, an out-of-town birthday party attended and two short stories edited and submitted for publication consideration.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I did not make the finals (round 3) of the NYC Midnight Short Story challenge. It was disappointing, but a relief because of the out-of-town birthday party that would have overlapped. I did get to beta-read for a writing-group friend who created an amazing story in twenty-four hours!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I finally had a date today with the hubby. Being married is hard, y’all! We need time away from the kids (and the critters and the house) to keep the connection that reminds us that we are friends and loves and partners. And I’m so thankful my in-laws offered to keep our kids today so we could have that time today.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that it is time for bed! And I will see you again soon.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? Tell me in the comments or add to the inlinkz. I look forward to reading what you have to share! Thanks for stopping by. Happy trails and have a great week! 🙂

  1. Sorry I’m late to the coffee date but it is so nice to see you here! Hope to see you again this weekend. Glad you and your husband were able to get away from the busy schedule and have some time to yourselves. That time can be hard to come by but it is so important.

    • Hi, Amie! Glad you could make it! (*goes to make a fresh pot*) That time is precious and we take it every chance we get! I love my kids, but in 20 years want to still be in love and enjoy time with hubby. It’s so easy to put your relationship on a back burner, where it may simmer or grow cold. Hope you had a great week and happy trails! 😃

    • Hello, bettylouise31! Thanks for stopping by to read and comment. Yes, it’s always a blissful bit of time when I get away from the kids with the hubby. Life is full and we’re very blessed. For me, busy is always better. Less time for mischief (AKA shopping)! 🙂
