Life in the Mom Lane: Toddlers vs. Locks, Part II

The other week we were gathered in the kitchen after dinner – me, hubby, Big Dude, Little Man and my in-laws. My father-in-law stepped into the garage to take some food to the overflow refrigerator and shut the door behind him. (Little Man is lightning fast and LOVES to play out there.)

Well, it turns out Little Man has a new trick!

The two year-old-plus sized 20 month-er beelines for the door, grabs the knob and starts stretching up. Someone made a comment about him opening the door.

“He can’t turn the knob yet,” I said.

No, maybe not, but he sure can get up on his tip-toes and flip the deadbolt into the “locked” position!

And boy is he proud of himself for locking and unlocking that door!

In the space of two days, he’s locked out my father-in-law and husband.

Man, oh man, are we in trouble with his one…
