#WriterMemeMonday: And the Editor Says…

No, not really. 🙂

But I did get my manuscript back with some great feedback and notes.

Now it’s time to work on it!

  1. Ooh! Did you already post on finding an editor and your process? I’m balanced on the edge of diving into a second draft and don’t know when to bring an editor in, what kind of editor to solicit or where to find one. If love to hear/read more!

    • Hi, afthead! Great comment and question. I did not post about the status of my WIP yet, although I intend to blog through my experience of getting my book to market. I’ll have to get to writing that post! Here’s the rundown to your questions: I found a free lance editor through a writing group with a strong critique component to it. I’d seen / gotten critique work from her before and believed she would give a fair, honest and helpful big- picture edit. I sent her my second draft, knowing some of the issues, and needing some fresh eyes and perspective on them. Her evaluation and notes and exactly what I needed. Now I have to digest them, make a plan for the changes ahead and execute! Keep me posted on your journey!

      • Ah, interesting. I’m intimidated by writers groups. How did you find yours? I feel like there isn’t enough time and space to write in my life anyway, so how do I go through the trials of checking out writers groups? Great to hear how you found someone. I’m so glad you found a partner to help you through the editing process. Bravo you!

      • I have a couple of writing groups. One I found locally (and has it’s features, good and bad) and one I was invited to join online. I’ve also found some writing-kindred-spirits at a great writing conference in Virginia. Check Facebook for local groups near you, try the library and search online for some near(ish) conferences. Those are great places to start and overall, well worth squeezing in! 🙂
