Inspired Post: Joining the 7-7-7 Writer’s Challenge!

777challenge

Fellow blogger Kay Morris of Kay Morris Writes has challenged me to join the 7-7-7 Writer’s Challenge!

The rules: Go to the 7th page of my WIP. Find the 7th sentence on that page, then paste the following 7 sentences into my blog post. Finally, select 7 other writers for the challenge!

Below is an excerpt from my women’s lit-romance WIP, titled “What Might Have Been.” Here we meet the main character and her long-time best friend on the eve of their college friends’ wedding:

Fighting a clenching sensation in my stomach, I willed myself to peer up at him. Sam was looking out towards the shoreline, his gray eyes clouded and brow furrowed. “I think I should turn in for the night. We both have an early wake-up tomorrow for the wedding party festivities,” I said.

Standing slowly, I leaned forward to kiss him on the cheek, lingering for a second in the aroma of his after-shave. I looked down at him as I stood and forced a lighter tone. “What will I do when the day comes you are off, settled and married and I’m alone with no one to be my date to events like this?”

For my 7 writer-nominees, I invite the following bloggers to join the fun and share a snip-it of your WIP in the 777 Challenge, but others are welcome to jump in, too. I look forward to getting hooked on your current WIP!

      • Oh man, I had so much fun during the Warrior Dash. I will have to post some of the pictures. Then I went and did a run called the Dirty Girl Mud Run last weekend and I’m waiting for the pics from that one. I think there’s a good one of my behind when I was somersaulting out of a blow-up maze contraption! I am officially signed up for next year too.

      • That’s awesome! I missed all the good races like that this year. Next year I’m hoping to do a local Mudder that supports The Wounded Warrior Project and Muddrella (ladies only!) in the DC area. First up: Gotta start running again! 🙂
I look forward to seeing your pix and hope you post about the experiences this time!
